Art That Records History
Hiram Revels of Mississippi became the first African American Senator in 1870. Born in NC in 1827, Revels attended Knox College in Illinois and later served as minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Baltimore MD. He Raised two black regiments during Civil War and fought at the battle of Vicksburg in Mississippi. He became an outspoken opponent of racial segregation.
America takes 138 years to elect African American to its Presidency in 2008.

Have you ever wondered who started Daylight Saving Time? Well here are your culprits.
Senate Sergeant at Arms charles Higgins turns forward the Ohio clock for the first Daylight Saving Time, while Senators William Calder (NY), William Saulsbury, Jr. (DE), and Joseph T. Robinson (AR) look on. [1918, Senate Historical Office]

Below is President John F. Kennedy and Vice President Lyndon S. Johnson's Inaugruation invitation ticket in 1961.

Washington D.C.'s professional baseball team was called the "Senators," but many real senators also played the game. Three freshman Democrats were playing in this 1953 photo: Massachusetts Senator John F. Kennedy catching, Washington Senator Henry "Scoop" Jackson at bat, and Montana Senator Mike Mansfield as the umpire calling the strike.

New team assignments
In case you have not looked ahead- we still have 2 team assignments to do. From what I see both are due NOV 11. Picture This-theme from photofriday.com. We as a team must choose a theme. I think we should all submit 5 then vote from there to see which one wins out.
